TRAVELLERS have sparked anger after descending on a bingo hall car park where they have been ‘weeing in public’.

About a dozen caravans pitched up on the site in Brighton, East Sussex, yesterday morning.

A local business owner said: “While you want to say live and let live unless they cause a problem, there have already been people urinating behind the bins.”

A resident added: “We pay a lot of money for parking tickets and residents’ permits and get slapped with fines when we don’t so it is irritating to see that the rules don’t seem to apply to everyone.”

Chrissie Stevens said on Facebook: “It’s always different rules.

“I parked in there last year to use the burger van and got a fine

“I bet they don’t get anything.”

Tara Stephanie Doerr added: “It’s frustrating as I have to park on Freshfield Way for work and pay £5.30 every day.

“I once made a mistake on the app, put Freshfield Road and got a fine straight away.”

The car park has large signs saying non-members will be charged £95 to park, with number plates captured by cameras.

The firm that runs it, Highview Parking, said it would “most likely” be issuing tickets.

Yesterday the bingo hall doors were locked but staff said the hall was still open to the public.

Brighton and Hove City Council said it was aware of the unauthorised encampment.

A spokesman said: “As this is private land, this is a matter for the landowner to deal with, who we believe will be enforcing a common law eviction at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Last month we told how brazen travellers were booted out of a school car park after blocking children from lessons.

Around 20 caravans housing 60 adults as well as children, dogs and a horse took over Shenley Academy in Birmingham when the school was closed for half-term.

Children had to be given a police escort through the delivery entrance of the school while younger pupils were warned not to come in at all.

And only yesterday we revealed how cops were called to a posh golf club after partying travellers trashed the venue.

It was claimed 200 travellers turned up to the party booked for 50 in Stapleford Abbots and helped themselves to drinks.
